Job Summary

The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the maintenance and repair operations for the physical structures, grounds, and equipment of the facility. This includes supervising a team of maintenance personnel or contractors, ensuring that all repairs and upkeep are performed on time, within budget, and to company standards. 

Specific Responsibilities

Supervise the employees in maintenance department, including employment, discipline, and performance appraisal. Determine manpower and needs, and ensure necessary training is completed, including for contract employees. 
Participate in projects, such as design, purchase and installation of production equipment, production improvement efforts, scrap reduction projects, etc. 
Review standard operational and working practices and procedures with Supervisors and/or lead persons to ensure compliance with standards, policies, and achievement of necessary performance levels  
Overall responsibility for maintenance of the Preventive Maintenance Program; update and modify PMs as needed to meet the changing needs of the facility. 
Oversee troubleshooting and solving maintenance and equipment issues and problems. Coordinate with production availability of machinery for repair/set up, and meeting production needs.  Dismantle defective machines and equipment and install new or repaired parts.  
Oversee and provide guidance for any or all of the following: Install and repair electrical apparatus, such as transformers and wiring, and electrical and electronic components of machinery and equipment.  Program, install, energize, and repair Programmable Logic Controllers for temperature and pressure systems and process control.    
Ensure equipment is inspected so it is at operational performance and optimum utilization. Maintain history and repair records for equipment. Advice on equipment and upgrades. 
Schedule equipment maintenance repair to coordinate with production schedules and review all work orders for completeness.  
Recommend and request the requisition of tools, equipment, parts, supplies and contract services; ensure appropriate spare parts and other required inventory levels are maintained for maintenance functions 
Collaborate with the management team to monitor to follow all local, state, federal, insurance carriers and company safety and health regulations, including the compliance of environmental regulations. 
Maintain a clean and orderly work environment, utilizing measures such as 5-S principles/procedures, etc. 
Conduct regular communication meetings with crews to include safety, quality, continuous improvement, work area order, policy changes and state of business concerns.

Other Duties Can Include:

Supervision of custodial services 
Manage relationships with outside contractors, including negotiation of contracts, definition of scope of work, and supervising their activities on site

EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING REQUIRED

Electrical maintenance, or related/applicable technical discipline, or equivalent.   Related bachelor’s degree a plus. 
Experience with 6 axis robots.  
Injection molding experience – maintenance 
Minimum five years of work experience in maintenance in production environment, including substantial experience in some or all the following areas: industrial maintenance and/or engineering, electrical, AC/DC, welding, or other maintenance functions; on-the-job training or certification in hydraulics, boiler room operations, welding, and forklift.  
Minimum three years of maintenance supervisory experience in production environment  
Experience with establishing/managing budgets and financial reporting preferred 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Solid knowledge in most or all the following: industrial maintenance, plant electrical systems, AC/DC, boiler room operations, welding, pneumatics, plumbing, pneumatics, and hydraulics 
Ability to read, understand, and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, operating and maintenance instructions, safety rules and procedure manuals  
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.   
Ability to build and maintain a strong team environment 
Ability to draft routine reports, correspondence, and policies/procedures. Ability to read, analyze and interpret applicable business periodicals, journals, technical manuals, and government regulations. 
Ability to effectively communicate with all levels and types of internal and external individuals, including speaking effectively before groups of customers or employees of an organization. 
Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations, including computing rates, ratio, and percents; ability to draw and interpret bar graphs. 
Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
